it's about time for an alley cat...
I hear my son Wesley talk about the alley cat rides but if you would be so kind to humor the old guy what exactly is this. My sense is that it is kind of like a Hash Harry running game. A little running ( biking in this case) some clues maybe a little orienteering and always a lot of beer at the end. The runners describe ourselves as "drinkers with a running problem"
ha pretty close.
originally, they came out of bike messenger culture and were there to simulate actual courier skills, ie pick ups, deliveries. they've since morphed into more themed scavenger hunt type rides. some are more competitive than others, some are more straight up races. it's really limited to the creativity of the organizer
I am planning on going.
I guess the dinosaur statues are the checkpoints. right?
i'm doing this for my birthday!
I'm ready to be home, and ready to do this race.
i had fun on this. gonna see how many miles it was soon. not one computer?
ps. thanks!
this was our route, not sure if it was the fastest, or shortest, but it was fun

This was great. I like that it tested everyone's reading comprehension... I failed that test and was quite confused when I made it to Mr Roger's dino.
Unfortunately the video camera I had mounted to my stem wasn't working so there is no footage to go along with.
Too bad the camera wasn't working.
I had a fun time but, the checkpoints were tough to find for sure.
Igo... Which person were you? I don't know if we've met. I was the tall guy on a red track bike with the aforementioned camera hanging from the stem.
I'm sore today.
I was the person who almost hit you at the herrs island bridge. My name is drew by the way.
I wish I could have done it. I was on my way back from Ohiopyle--just couldn't make it in time.
Gotcha! You were putting the hurt on me going up Penn Ave to that first stop, and then we lost each other until the Herr's Island bridge.
After that stop I had to head back to the Mr Roger's dino, and for some reason decided that I hadn't climbed enough in the race and went up Herron Ave in Polish Hill rather than Liberty. Sometimes my racing choices befuddle me.
That was a good time! Although I apparently can't read either and went downtown first, then backtracked to Pt. Breeze, then back downtown again. I think I'm going to just follow people from now on, because free will just gets me in trouble.
I think I'm going to just follow people from now on, because free will just gets me in trouble.
now there's a life lesson
But is your free will to choose to follow people
any have feedback on the local community reception?
Huh? Community reception? I got honked at once. Otherwise it was just another bike ride for any onlookers.
