DUCK HOLLOW Clean UP

Saturday March 1st at 12:00 pm NOON We need Volunteers to rake the dead leaves from the trail between Duck Hollow and the glenwood Bridge / tracks . There is a thick mat of dead leaves covering most of the trail making bike travel difficult . Any one interested in helping is encouraged to bring your own rake and maybe a spare if you have one ? Bikes are welcome to ride between bad sections ! Thanks !!! rvoldglory@gmail.com

Two questions: 1. I have a pinning class at 13:00 so I can start a little bit earlier. Would it cause any problems? 2. What we are going to do with leaves? Just move them aside?

yup basically rake them downhill and try to broadcast them at least 5-10 feet away from the trail tread to allow for drainage and you should be good.

i am the proud leader of my 1st clean up Here are my thoughts . if we can do this with a small group think what we can do with a Bike Pgh Army ? perhaps set up a volunteer mailing list and find and post problems that can be tackled and then ride off in to the sunset LOL wouldn’t it be cool to see a bunch of rakes straped to bikes . also on another note I posted notes at the trailhead to see if any walkers ect … can get there. Thanks again for any and ALL HELP !!!!

I can be available for a bit. I'll be arriving by car. My excuse is that I really don't want to ride from the far side of Bellevue with a rake (or more) affixed to my bike (I've already had one rake accident that resulted in stiches, have no desire for more), but the real reason is that I'll be on my way to Monroeville to see a friend who is in the hospital. I can bring a rake, as well as a cultivator (is that the right word for a rake with rigid metal times?) Maybe extra work gloves. Anything else?

I may have to rethink bikes with rakes . lol Yes meet at Trailhead Parking at river Also if any litter or trash is found it should be left on opposite side of trail , I will be removing any and all , there is a pink toilet i need to get , hope the leaves are thawed ?

Sorry, I need to back out. My Sunday afternoon plans just became my Saturday afternoon plans. Let me know if there is a round 2 clean up effort.

I'll be there, with car, bicycle, and several rakes. The weather is forecast to be partly cloudy, 40F (the rain won't start until after 8pm).
