I'm a huge fan of the friction-clip rear fender that attaches to your seatpost - if they make one for the front I'd say its the perfect set.
Fenders?
So I had this pair that fixed to the hubs and Sat. I had a hunk of wood get swallowed up by the front one. That's it for those, needless to say (as I sit here icing my formally seperated shoulder). Guy at the bike shop showed me a similar pair of fenders today and said they are designed specifically to prevent this from happening by detaching when something gets sucked into them. Anyone have any experience with these? Even better, have they actually prevented anyone from going airborne? Thanks.
The ones he showed me were hub mounted I believe, same as my others only with this safety feature. Covers entire wheel.
The bike store fenders you're describing sound like the SKS P fenders I have. Front has that little detachable clip where it connects to the front fender braze-on. It has worked as it should for me twice. Although both times because I tried to take a touring bike through woodsy single track trails that touring bikes w/fenders really shouldn't be on.
Yes, the venerable SKS P-series mudguards.
You can also purchase replaceable clips and stays for those models. They are likely the nicest of any other plastic fender.
Thanks guys. Yes those are the ones. Very glad they worked for you, I'm gonna gets me some now.
