may i ask, how long (how late) {how early} does the Flock run? thanks!
Flock All Night this Friday 4/8!
Flock All Night is Flock of Cycles party-style social ride that meets on the second Friday of each month (at 10 pm by Dippy the Dinosaur).
The style of the ride is slow-paced and courteous: stop at traffic lights, yield to pedestrians, stay in a single lane, and allow cars to pass (when they can do so safely). This ride is perfect for pulling that weird bike out of the house–uni’s ‘bents, tall bikes, choppers, and any other weird looking contraption will be at home on this ride.
It’s about being responsible, courteous road users, not racing around the city and keeping it fun!
Helmets and lights are REQUIRED.
It runs as long or as short as you want, really. People start peeling off the group around 11:30-midnight, but we've had a couple rides where half a dozen of us end up at Ritters eating some crap food at 2:30am before heading home.
I have to work at 5:30 on Saturday morning so I will most likely split off early if I even go. Meh.
you mean delicious food served by nice ladies wearing scrubs
It's like the Cleveland of Pittsburgh eateries, heh heh
Assuming the weather doesnt suck I'll probably be there.
Tentatively planning on being there. I'm planning on getting Bike #4 roadworthy by week's end & this would be a good shake-out.
It will likely rain but I have rain gear and fenders!
I was going to say it should be a warm rain at least, but no. In the fashion of the rest of the week tomorrow is supposed to be a colder day sandwiched between warmer ones.
At one point it was forecasted to be warmer, but this time of year, the forecast changes a whole lot. Boooooo. Umm it is gonna be 80 on Sunday.
I'm looking forward to it. I brought along my rain pants/jacket today. If anyone wants to grab dinner somewhere 'round Oakland beforehand let me know.
I'm up for dinner!
Depending when/where yinz are meeting for dinner, I'm game.
Mick suggested Orient Express on Forbes, and countered that I wanted a beer or a byob policy. I'm not restricted to Oakland, a few miles away would be cool with me.
For time, meet somewhere probably around 8:30pm, depending on how far we are from dippy?
Chris P said he may or may not join the dinner, won't know until 6pm.
Any suggestions for location, Pseudacris?
I'll be warm and dry tonight, watching adventure films at the Banff Film Festival. I would usually prefer to "do" rather than "watch" but I make an exception for this film festival.
P.S. The last event posted on the Flock of Cycles FB page was in January. Is that site no longer being maintained? Or is there a new one that I missed hearing about?
The interwebs sez the rain is gonna clear up about 5.
On N Craig St there is Ali Baba, middle eastern food w/ a BYOB policy. Also the Union Grill (decent pub food, full bar).
Nearby on Oakland Ave is Fuel and Fuddle: pizza & beer. [edit: and burgers I think]
I'm meeting reddan@ 8 to start planning the Try-A-Bike Rodeo, so I'll probably catch up with y'all by 9. Can I PM a cell phone # to someone in case plans change?
you can text me your number. mine is 412-dan-wuwu
After being on the road, in the air and out of the country for two weeks, I'm really looking forward to riding tonight.
How about Pizza Sola at around 8:45 or 9pm (happy hour starts at 9!) Anyone?
Yum - yes. The Oakland location on Atwood.
See ya!
Change in plans, I'm pbly going to miss this. *grumble* I have to be in the city at 9:30a + an hour travel time, so can't be out too late.
Arg, I just started making dinner. Pizza and a beer sounds nice. Oh well see ya guys tonight.
How was the ride?
Fun times as usual. Had a decent sized group. I think we did 13 miles? Have to check the gps
I had fun despite being in a slow-pedaling mode (& my knees hurt for some reason). We spun round n round the obelisk @ PPG place for a while. It was kind of a thrill not to think about potholes for a short bit.
