GAP trail towns?

Taking Amtrak roro from Pit to Cumberland right before memorial day with a leisurely 3 day ride back. Hope to stop in some trail towns this time. Anything cool that I shouldn't miss? I've done the trail enough that I think I've seen most things on or very near the trail. (IE, confluence, ohiopyle)

Here are a few: Rockwood: see the Opera House building. You can buy a slice of pie there, probably, and there's a gift shop toward the back of the building. opera space is upstairs Confluence: Lucky Dog Cafe - best food in Confluence, in my opinion. Ohiopyle: hike the Ferncliff Trail. There are some different views of Ohiopyle Falls from this trail. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findapark/ohiopyle/#hiking Dunbar: from South Connellsville take the 2 mile Sheepskin Trail (spur) to Dunbar, where they have a huge new glass sculpture. I don't know the hours of their museum space. http://triblive.com/news/westmoreland/8208118-74/glass-dunbar-sculpture Cedar Creek Gorge loop hike, Cedar Creek Park (S of West Newton on GAP): wildflowers. most GAP users never visit this gorge. see map at http://www.co.westmoreland.pa.us/index.aspx?NID=730 McKeesport: Heritage Center in Renziehausen Park is a little history museum. McKeesport has a lot of history. limited hours http://mckeesportheritage.org/visitor_information

These are great. I've done the Opera house before and of course the Ferncliff hike. I like the other ones.

This is such a great idea for a thread! I only this spring ventured into the gorge at Cedar Creek and it is really great!

I've seen school buses at Cedar Creek Park before and never thought about why the kids would take a day trip there. Now I know.

Jacob posted this in the watering holes thread: Dorothy 6 Blast Furnace Cafe in Homestead. I almost never stop in Homestead since by then I feel like I'm close enough to home to just bust on through, but there is some awesome stuff there.

Donges Diner Drive-In in Meyersdale. It's a hole in the wall with biggest pancake and real maple syrup!
