GPS Tracking of Stolen Bikes

Apologies if this has been covered in another thread, but I haven't been on the board in a while. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with GPS tracking chips, etc. for use if you bike is stolen. A relative had a scare recently with a very expensive bike. I can google some options, but is anything thought to be the best? Easiest to use? Thank you!

Of the options I've seen, the one that appealed to me required a cell phone plan to use (which wouldn't be too bad if the customer could cheaply add another line via some sort of family plan). I forget the name, off hand. There are a few options out there now.
