Greenfield Bridge and Greenfield Ave. Downtown to Greenfield via Jail Trail

Will lower Greenfield Ave. be less stressful of a climb once the Greenfield Bridge re-opens and is no longer part of a detour? Also, by any chance, Will it make westbound Hobart St./ Panther Hollow Rd. more stressful from Beacon St. to the Overlook Dr. interchange?

Unfortunately I don't remember lower greenfield ever being less stressful.  I think the only thing that has decreased my stress there has been desensitization and maybe the 4 ft. passing law.  I always see cars at Hobart / Beacon, so I don't think that will change much either.  The intersection at the bottom will suck again due to traffic coming from greenfield.  I expect side street traffic in Squirrel Hill to improve as people filtering through to get to Greenfield will start using the bridge again.

@Lee, I got video of me going from Squirrel Hill to Oakland via Panther Hollow Rd./Blvd. of the Allies. https://youtu.be/NTuBBZDkxss?t=108   Also, when will it re-open?

I just climbed Greenfield Ave. today to somewhere just shy of Graphic St. where the second uphill begins. I had to do some walking as it it quite a long climb. There was not too much traffic. Does anyone know when the bridge is going to be complete? I believe the 58 Greenfield bus is due to be re-routed across it instead of along Beechwood/Lilac/Murray/Beacon/Hobart next Sunday.

@lee, Would turning left onto Graphic St. right onto Lilac St. and right onto Murray Ave. be too steep. Also, why do the bike lanes on Beechwood Blvd. end in Squirrel Hill and not continue to the Greenfield Bridge? There should also be a way to navigate the fustercluck at the Parkway interchange.

Beechwood is very narrow there with parking on both sides. Unfortunately most of those houses on beechwood don't have driveways nor alleys behind them.  The people who live there need to park on the street.   My son goes there weekly for music lessons and it totally sucks. It can take 2 min to get back into the car due to the narrowness and the rush of traffic going by.

Graphic to Lilac is steep. Greenfield is steep in general.  and yeah, Beechwood becomes a hellscape as it passes the parkway.  sucks.

Does Boulevard Dr. bypass some of the interchange ruckess? I could take Winterburn Ave./Alger St./Beechwood Blvd./ Loretta St/Greenfield Ave..

Not really. It is one way and basically bypasses maybe 2 blocks of beechwood. If I remember correctly may also be hilly Probably more dangerous pulling back onto beechwood than just staying on it. Not worth it.

@ed, Parking should be removed from the southbound lane of Beechwood Blvd. In Squirrel Hill/Point Breeze from Forbes Ave, from Dallas Ave. to Forest Glen Rd., and from Phillips Ave. to Crombie St. This parking should be replaced with a five foot crosshatched buffer area and a bike lane filling up the area to the curb. Remove the DZBL on the entire northbound side and replace with sharrows. Place sharrows where there are no bike lanes, but parking on the southbound side. In Greenfield, replace parking on the western side of the street with a cycle track all the way to the Greenfield Bridge.

Also, were the runnels added to the Murray Ave. steps yet as per the bridge detour information?
