I'm only backing it if they'll make it in my size (and bigger, too!)

I thought these were a great idea. Hope it goes well. I considered buying but then realized she doesn't say what the material is. I liked the black ones with the mesh on the side, but if it's synthetic/silk I realized it would get awfully sweaty and gross. Given that this is meant for longer trips, the sweat factor is definitely a consideration. Maybe they'll be wicking versions?

Rapha makes a really nice pair of merino wool padded boxers, I'm not sure if the pads are different than a women's specific pair?

Yes, wicking materials are very important. For not only comfort, but also health reasons.

I guess, as a guy, I don't need to know all the details, but should this topic come up in a face-to-face conversation, it would be useful to know of some reliable, female-written info sources to point newer women cyclists to, especially the just-how-do-you-deal-with-that-stuff-anyway types of questions.

You have a lot of good things to say. If any of you have ridden with me, you know I am not ashamed to share info about this with anyone in anything but a loud voice.
I have found that the selle Italia SLR superflow has a huge cutout and it works for me. I was comfortable on wide saddles but now the narrower ones work. Also it is surprising that I have never gotten a uti or yeast infection. Just saddle sores from riding in wet weather. Lantiseptic is a great cream.
