Not sure how it is now, but earlier this week ice on the parking lot by the soccer field at the south end of the Panther Hollow Trail knocked both my friend and me down. Shoulda stayed on the nice crunchy snow. I cracked my helmet and we both got some black and blue marks, but no serious injuries either.
ice, ice baby
be carefull on turns and bends this am, my first crash in ages, but I came away with the slightest of scratches.
Ouch. Took a spill crossing Second Ave on the jail trail detour. Then saw another biker on Ross St downtown who said he had crashed on the sidewalk/trail from the Smithfield St bridge to Grant St.
i almost went down on dobson. luckily my loaded panniers help me stick to the road. when i got back to my place and dismounted i literally slid down the brick sidewalk past my door. i didnt fall, but i was not in control of the situation.
Alleyways (including Spring in the Strip) & sidewalks definitely tricky this morning.
BEWARE the shortcut between shadyside & bakery square behind reizinstein school. I just passed through there and they are draining a fire hydrant. surely that will be a sheet of ice later in the day.
I went down yesterday downtown when my front brakes suddenly gripped more tightly than expected. I didn't go over the handlebars but I did do a nose stand on the bike, it fell back down and, without any forward momentum I just fell over.
careful walking through market square - the material the sidewalks and such are made of are terrible
we actually had a customer call us after leaving to warn us that if we need to leave the store, be careful not to slip.
careful for anyone going down one wild place by the zoo, going right at the bottom of the hill onto butler toward the highland park bridge. it has been slushy and now icy.
