interesting bike-related book
In my preparations for moving to Vietnam later this year I've been reading up on Vietnamese culture, and I finished a book today that may interest some of you.
It's called "Catfish and Mandala", by Andrew Pham, a Vietnamese-American dude who returns to Vietnam and rides his bike from Saigon to Hanoi in an attempt to find his roots. The book was published in 2000, so the country has changed a lot since then, but there are some good bike-y parts, although if you're looking for a straight-up travelogue look elsewhere, as he covers a lot of topics. I really, really liked the book, and some of the stuff he goes through on his bike is pretty amazing. It's a quick read too, so I highly recommend it.
