Pretty cool that they see enough of a market for these.

I hope they aren't really skinny jeans though. Cycling has provided me with a small waist, and abnormally huge thighs for my long legs. My thighs do not fit at all in a skinny pant leg on jeans with a waist dimension within a couple inches of my actual waist size. Normal fit are like skinny jeans on me. I can't be the only cyclist with such issues.

No, dwillen, you are not alone (although I somehow missed out on the "small waist"). Normal cut jeans that fit my waist end up as denim sausage casing on my thighs. Loose fit flaps around the calves a bit, but at least the thighs have blood flow.

With Nanosphere and Sanitized whatever, at $85, just tell everyone you've acquired seven pairs...

They are skinny jeans. I have a pair of them, and just ordered a size larger last week to get some more breathing room.

Skinny Jeans make my junk hurt, how about the Chrome Loop Pro Knicker I hear a lot of good about them but don't know anyone who has them.

Brad, where did you find them? According to Levi, they aren't available yet.

If they made these for women I would instantly buy a pair.

Nick has a pair of these. He had to get them a size up from his normal Levi's size, but they are his favorite jeans. (Just plain 511s, not these).

I think they are making them for women. I'm pretty sure that I clicked on something to send me an email when the woman's version is ready. Or it could have been something else entirely

They found me. I have no idea when or where they'll be available.

I have a pair of the Chrome knickers as well, and they're some of my favorites as far as commercially available knickers go.

When I was skinny I always had the big thigh problem, too, because I was a runner and then a cyclist.. You would think that levis would know that their target group would have big thighs. Maybe they will make a relaxed fit?

For me?

Skinny jeans? Meh. I will stick with 7's for jeans and biking clothes for biking.

I got my Commuter 511's today!

Initial impressions: The material is thinner then my rigid 511's and the cut it just a tiny bit looser in the calf region. They have a nice bit of stretch to them, but not too much to make them feel cheap.

I am kind of worried about the longevity of the anti-bacterial and dirt/water repellents. Though I rarely wash jeans.

The only thing I don't like about them is the lock strap is on the left side. Being right-handed, like most people, I usually have my lock on the right side, as do most people I see (I think?).

Other than that, the only thing that sticks out (without riding in them) is the reinforced area--the way it is sewn, it also feels like a pair of padded shorts--but I think it will probably be less noticeable as they wear-in.

I noticed in the photos the lock strap seems a bit small, only for the size lock you have...I have a fuller sized u-lock,maybe 4-4.5inch span in the U..Think it'd fit in that strap? I have a holster that goes on belts but i hateeee wearing belts..so i never use it.Sometimes i want to go to ride without a bag on,just a lock..I love Levis too, but not sure i wanna spend 80 dollars and not like the pants or have them not fit my ulock.

My OnGaurd Pittbull Mini is 4.5" c-c. The lock fits fine and looks like you could squeeze a slightly bigger lock in as well.

I have been looking for commuter pants. I'm sick and tired of shredding through shorts and pants prematurely and I'm not ready to wear lycra for the 6 mile ride.

My test for any sort of blue jeans is to get caught in a rainstorm with them. The couple pairs I have get so heavy and dense, it's very hard to pedal.

I'd also like to see a pair for women! However, the features aren't hard to add to your current favorite pair of jeans. If you're at all crafty you can sew on the reflective strips and a loop for your lock. You can also sew on a patch the inside or outside of the areas you want to reinforce (depending on if you want the patch to be seen), and spray them with scotch guard or an equivalent for water proofing. I might take an afternoon soon to do some of that, if anyone's interested.

Scotchguarding my pants... That's genius and I feel so stupid for not thinking of this long ago. haha...

beccameadow, I think I'm going to do that too. I just need to figure out which pair of jeans is going to get modified...

I wouldn't want to Scotch Guard pants. The silicone in it will make them less breathable.

I used to have a pair of jeans that I would coat with 303 Fabric Guard. The results were satisfactory, but it will only do so much.

@Nick: I see your point. Good call.

If breathability is a concern, I'd lean toward not wearing jeans to begin with and go with a technical fiber or shorts -particularly in 80°+ heat.

Although, after the storms last week, I may still spray a pair of jeans. It can't be worse than my vinyl pants phase in the 90s. haha...

Beccameadow, if you were to find an old pair of mens wool dress pants at a thrift store and give them this treatment, then you'd have something.

you could scotchguard the bits likely to get wet (tops of thighs, cuffs, assuming you have fenders) and leave the rest as-is, rainproof where it counts and breathable everywhere else.

or you could just wear jeggings. looks like jeans, but with the unattractive cut of leggings - unflattering to all!

@edmonds59 Nice! I'll have to give some classy thrifted business-wear a try. I haven't scotch guarded pants, but will probably do it on a pair, at least on the thighs and cuffs. I also want to add a ulock loop. Will post pics if I do. Please post them if you give it a shot!

For anyone looking to try before you buy, Urban Outfitters is a retailer for the commuter. I'm not sure if they've made it to stores yet but theyre available online so its worth a shot.

Those are Republic Bikes (republicbike.com). It was a matter of time before they hooked up with UO.

I've decided that in lieu of Scotchguarding my pants to just buy these. Might save the aggravation later.

Just as a note, a woman at the Levi's Outlet in Grove City informed me that cut, and thus fit, can vary based on what factory they come out of. I asked because of my 3 pairs of 511's they are two different sizes, and the two that are the same size, fit differently.
