Looks like paving in the evenings on Thursday and Friday of this week. So real soon.
Does anyone know what the schedule/timetable is for the paving in Bloomfield?
Last night I went down and it was all torn up. Very excited to see them improving the surface, though.

does that mean i should take a different route home? i usually take liberty all the way from main to centre. though it's not much of a hassle to cut to friendship.
No parking signs until Aug 3. Should be done then. Hopefully the bike lanes will be repainted quickly.
That would explain all of the cones down liberty the other night. That will be sooooo nice to not dodge pot holes and uneven patch work. If only they would do Negley between penn and friendship.. Even down to baum..
I would dearly like to think they had BikeFest in mind when they were planning this work.
FYI, I just rode past the paving area (trying to cross Liberty on Millvale) and it looks like they have quite a bit of activity going on -all sorts of construction vehicles and cops blocking the side streets. So hopefully they will start paving tonight (maybe finish if we're lucky?).
the inbound lane is mostly paved as of just a few minutes ago. it's not pressed or sealed yet, but they're allowing traffic on it right now.
From the DPW webiste
Thursday, August 2nd and Friday, August 3rd from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Liberty Ave from Centre Ave to Edmond St
Drove down Liberty early this morning. The paving is all done! Only thing missing are the lines.
BTW, I shop on the Strip early Saturdays. Some mornings, I treat myself a cup of espresso Especially if it feels that I might mistake the pancetta for the capicola.
Quite often La Prima is overrun with spandex bikers, almost all wearing "Mt. Lebanon [something] and Caffeine Club" jerseys [sorry, lousy memory for detail, especially at that time of day]. Who are these people? I assume the Tuesday Decaf rides were some kind of response to these folks. What's the deal?
I hear that those dudes are strong and fast riders. Too bad it is on the other side of town, though I guess that doesn't mean that I can't join up somewhere in town if I wanted.
Kinda disappointed that I see no ladies. There is no picture for someone named Kim.. Not sure if that is male or female. Looks like there used to be one female member for sure. Does anyone know the average speed for rides like this?
It looked like a mix of people, though tilting towards the 'masters' end of the spectrum. I saw several women this morning (out of ~30 riders). Also one really young guy.
They all looked real serious (what with their kit) and in good shape but I sensed it was a B-C crowd at best.
Any of these folks on this bboard? Please comment. Among other things I'm curious (like stefb) about the speed/distance of the rides.
And I still want the dirt on this whole Caf/Decaf thing...
I have seen those guys at 21st street coffee before.
They look strong and they have good taste in coffee.
[edit]
They have some routes posted on the site but it is hard to tell the speed since the disclaimer says they leave the GPS running while they drink coffee
I will probably start doing Team Decaf Tuesday night rides again in late August/early Sept.
@ Pseudacris you are missed, are you doing pedal pittsburgh?
I am! I'm not sure yet what route I'll take. If I'm riding solo, I'll join a slow paced ride. If my friend comes down, we'll probably do one of the shorter routes. In any case I'll be down bright n early to register and shoot the breeze as they say.
It sucks that Big Dog is not open til 7:30. I AM A COFFEE DRINKER.
See you soon!
As of last night's Bike-to-Buccos ride and this morning's commute, the road appears done but there are only the double-yellow line in the middle, no bike-lane/shoulder lines for most of Liberty. Down near Shadyside Honda there's one set of shoulder lines for the parking lane, but no bike lane yet.
You can see dots about 4 feet away from the parking lane stripe to show where the other line will be, so it should be coming soon
I've been at The Big Idea since about 8am, and I've never heard so many people honking their horns as I have today, and seeing tons of people speeding. Can't wait for the bike lanes to be fully repainted.
