Looking for C&O Advice

I am headed to Annapolis tomorrow (10/20) and thought of stopping somewhere and riding the C&O for a little bit.  My husband is looking for somewhere scenic, and I don't want big hills.  We're willing to go almost to DC even though it's not on the way to Annapolis.  Any suggestions?  We'll probably only ride for 1-2 hours because we need to be in Annapolis by 4.  Thanks!

I think the Western Maryland rail trail (near, say, Hancock) is much to be preferred over the C&O, which is really more of a hiking trail. It's paved, for one.

My favorite place on C&O is the 5 mile stretch from Big Slackwater Boat Ramp toward Pittsburgh (north). Because of the erosion of the original towpaths, concrete paths were built on top of the water which not only provide a smooth ride, but also great views of the Potomac river. You could park at the Big Slackwater Boat Ramp and ride north for 5 miles and turn back at the end of the concrete paths. If you still have time, ride south for a mile or two and visit the Dam #4 for a spectacular view of the dam. Here's the driving direction: https://goo.gl/maps/YceJ1DcV9NA2

Hancock, MD is right after I-70 intersects I-68.  It'sd right on the Freeway.  As JonaWebb says, There is both the C&O and the Western Maryland Rail Trail (parallel to the C&O, paved,  and maybe 100 yards away.) Weaver's diner in Hancock is an OK (at best) place to eat, but their pies are to die for.
