when do the tazza rides end?
Looking for good road bike ride groups/people
So I'm trying to round up a good group of people to regularly ride with that are centrally located in Pittsburgh, both after work (6pm on) and on the weekends. Looking to do 15-30ish miles on weeknights and 30-60 on weekends with some good hill climbs occasionally. My main biking buddy has moved so I've realized I need to start expanding my group of riding people.
I know of the Tazza D'Oro groups that go out and I plan on hitting the Thursday night one, but those are ending soon and I've also heard that they can be a little slow pace-wise sometimes.
Does anyone know of any good online groups or email lists - Facebook, etc - that are a bit faster paced and ride regularly? Or even individuals that would want to meet up after work and do some riding? Preferably people that are looking to continue riding into the winter.
Lots of my friends say they want to ride but they always bitch out at the last minute so I need to not count on them anymore.
The Team Caffeine rides are not slow. They will wait for riders at various points, but the pace will be pushed between those points. The rides tend to be hilly, too.
But yeah, they end in a few weeks.
Also check out the Western PA Wheelmen site, though most of the "fast" rides start in ye olde suburbs.
When do the PMVC rides end? Anyone? Anyone?
Tazzo's site says they ride through Sept. Good to know they're not slow...looking forward to hitting it up this week.
Western PA site looks great - bookmarking that one. It's nearly impossible for me to make it to the burbs in time after work, but it looks like there are some good weekend rides on there.
Anyone on here want to meet up? I'm headed out from south side tonight around 6. Probably going out every night this week too. I don't bite either...so that's a plus.
Have you tried the Pittsburgh cycling group on meetup.com?
Also check out the Major Taylor Cycling Club. They do a fair number of "training rides."
^ I'll check those out Swalfoort....thanks!
Re: the Tazzo ride--I believe they have a Yahoo group that the leader will use to send out the route. Sometimes. When they remember. You can probably at least search the archives and get an idea of what sort of rides they've done in the past.
PMVC rides are all year round. At some point they move to starting at 9a, at which point they also get really slow IME.
