I don't know if they will go to the airport, but the Vet taxis will accommodate bikes in their boxy vehicles. "VETaxi – Spacious MV1 white-color CNG fueled sedan that can seat for 4 persons plus, when needed, 3 Segways or 2 bicycles or 1 more person riding in their power wheelchair, wheel chair or scooter." http://www.vetaxi.com/index.php/vet-taxi-services/vetaxi-service

Or PAT bus. The 28X is $3.75 and picks up in Oakland and downtown. Other PAT routes for Montour Trail access: 21 to (a mile from) the Coraopolis end, 29 to the Cliff Mine Road trailhead, 55 to the Clairton end.

> The 28X is $3.75 and picks up in Oakland and downtown. Other PAT routes for Montour Trail access: 21 to (a mile from) the Coraopolis end... I've heard you can reach the bus stop from the Airport Trail and vice versa, but I couldn't figure out how. Might require taking your bike through the terminal? I ended up riding back out and up to IKEA to catch the (same) bus from there the time I tried. Also, I believe the bottom half-mile or so of the Montour Trail is still closed, so you can't reach it from 51. You can also ride the Blue Line T to either West Library or Library Station and be 3/4 mile from the Library trailhead (westbound); it's about a mile from Library Station to the eastbound trailhead. It's too bad you can't take a bike off at Logan, that looks like a much nicer mile to the Bethel Park trailhead...

If you ride on Airport Blvd for about a mile, you can reach the trail head, near where the parking exit is. From the bus stop, you can also go across the street, take an elevator to the top of the short term parking garage, then walk for a bit along the long corridor with the moving walkways, and exit onto the long term parking lot, where you can easily ride to the trailhead.

I think the Coraopolis end of the Montour Trail reopened last fall as scheduled. Their web site no longer shows that closure. Connecting from the Library T station to the westbound trail will get much easier later this year when the Library viaduct opens. A better connection to the eastbound Montour is still at the design stage, I believe. In 2014 they got permission to run a trail from the last property owner (Consol).

The trail wends its way to about where the parking exit toll booths are located, thence onto the parking grounds. I seem to recall there being bike racks at the far end of the parking concourse. Someone else will know this better. (I drive maybe once out of 10 trips, if that. You can't beat the bus; or those Airport Express thingies, if your flight's at 5 or 6am.) Anyway, once in there I would probably ride alongside the concourse to the end of the lot, enter and walk my bike across to the short-term parking and take an elevator down to the arrivals level. And be sure to walk (not ride) across the car lanes and through the terminal to the bus stop. Note that I haven't done this myself (but maybe this summer I might). An an alternative just ride into the concourse and power up to the terminal building. Hop into one of those glassed-in elevators, go down one floor then ride out the doors to the bus stop. If you time it right you might not have to even get off your bike. Try not run any people over. Although this isn't one of those airports with soldiers patrolling around with machine guns, do keep an eye out out for security.

> I think the Coraopolis end of the Montour Trail reopened last fall as scheduled. Their web site no longer shows that closure. ah, ok. given the number of bullshit nonexistent "bike trails" that have been added to googlemaps, it's kinda ironic this is still marked closed....

I was told by Aaron at Kindred that the airport now has covered bike parking (as opposed to the outdoor bike rack at the end of the moving walkway). They're going to make a springtime announcement, but Aaron & Katherine used it on their way to WinterBike or somesuch thing.

These are our three routes we do every year. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3040775 http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4213984 http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3425297 All of them have this "point of return": You can walk your bike or even ride it along almost to the end and get inside and get to the bus.

I just edited the reopened trail segment in Google Map Maker, so it should eventually show up as open again. PS: In case anyone hasn't heard, the airport now has a bike fix-it station in the baggage claim area.
