my arm fell off!
Left crank arm at the corner of First and Grant- it started feeling jumpy about half way to work, but I thought it was my bad pedal.
I can rummage around the shop here at work and see if there is a bolt that might hold it on to get me home. Does anyone have any other suggestions? No bike shops nearby that I know of. I should be able to get a ride home if I can't find anything.

The crank arm may well be ruined (I'm assuming square taper) You can have a look on Google Images for rounded out crank arms and see how they compare to yours.
I'd have a back up plan to get home. Even if you do find a bolt it may end up being a very temporary fix.

Maybe bus it home. I think it would be annoying and difficult to accelerate appropriately in traffic with one crank arm. I had a saddle break on me on my way Into work last week. I feel your pain. Luckily my husband was in the area and brought a spare. Good luck.
Ps- the title of this thread is kinda funny to imagine if you're taking about a human arm. Sounds like something that would happen to a zombie.

@Helen, since you usually bike to work, it is worth mentioning that the Google Maps directions for public transportation will probably serve you well from your workplace to anywhere in the E End. (sorry if this is overstating the obvious --- but please don't knock yourself out searching schedules on the PAT site). Probably the T to the 61 ABC or some such.

A 77 bus from downtown will take you out Friendship and drop you two blocks from Kraynicks. It's a 30 minute bus ride, or less. In less time, you can take you bike via bus to any of the several bike repair places on the southside, leave the bike there, and with a bus transfer get back to town.
But, what a drag! Sorry to hear of your difficulties.

Thanks for all the support and suggestions- We did not have any bolts here at work, but should have but they could not find them. I did call Bicycle Heaven- the guy (whose name I don't know) met me with his truck on the other side of the Casino so I would not have to 1 leg ride as far and took me to the shop. When I told them I only had about $2 in change (maybe I should carry some money on my ride?) they said come by again to pay them. I looked around a bit while he was putting the bolt on, and away I rode.
Cool place- I will definitely be back to pay them an buy some things - his customer service was incredible!
