ugh. does anyone know that area?
New Ken fatality (single vehicle crash)
EDIT: nevermind, i see someone started another thread about the guy in Brady's Run Park... bad weekend
You can almost see it with Google StreetView.
I've been through there a few times, not my favorite stretch of road but pretty much the same as every other strip-mall hell.
This is the "you don't have to get hit by a car to smack your head on the ground" accident that helmet advocates cite, and the "stay away from road-edge hazards" accident that everyone cites. The police called it a freak accident, but sadly, it's not all that freakish.
But we don't know WHY this guy was hugging the curb -- maybe he got brushed or right-hooked, or maybe he was trying to filter past stopped cars... It's pretty busy at 5:30 pm, I can't believe that nobody witnessed the actual fall and stopped right away. I'll bet somebody is saying "man, I saw that guy fall and didn't think to stop and see if he was hurt."
I wish we could get newspaper reporters (and police) to ask the right questions.
They don't state if he was heading straight for the curb or if he was riding parallel to it. It's a very busy stretch in the suburbs where people in cars have no patience and think that everyone is in their way.
i was wondering the same thing lyle
