I'm into riding the Dirty Half-dozen. Hopefully I can drag my carcass out of bed for it since I'll doubtless be cleaning up after the party till 2am.
Thanks for putting on this event!
Hey everyone,
Any interest in going on a ride featuring the first 7 hills of the dirty dozen on the morning of the 13th? (Center Ave.-Suffolk st.). I may or may not have a support car with snacks come along. (anyone want to volunteer to be it?). I'm thinking of starting the ride at ten am.
Also any interest in throwing an alleycat that saturday night?
I'm going to try and do my part for Bike Fest in one day then turn around and tour
to Canada.

I've gotta be home by lunchtime on the 13th, but I'd be down for a few DD hills.
Ted, you planning to do Rialto, even though it's shut down? It had all sorts of crap on the road the last time I looked...
I would be interest in the half dozen!
I'd be interested in this for sure, but I think I will probably be out of town, unfortunately. At any rate, the last time I was on Rialto there was just some loose foliage... maybe the support car could go first and remove anything egregiously bad?
I'm down for this
Im pretty sure rialto has jersey barriers top and bottom. Last time I went past there though, it looked accessible by bike.
the jersey barriers are like a permanent marshall!
Ok we're on a roll. Anyone want to drive a support car? I'll buy the mountain dews and little debbies.
I will probably do this ride. Are points going to be given for each hill? or is it non-competitive?
i think it will be a neutral ride, but in true DD style blow a whistle for points on the top of each hill. I think some people will reach the top before others regardless of whether we call it a race or not. We regroup on top regale about how hard the hill was cruise to the next and repeat.
YES!!!
I can drive a support car!
I'm down for the alleycat. The DD sounds like something I'd like to avoid (unless we were all on SS bikes).
Seven North of Heaven DD ride looks like a go.
Alleycat is a maybe (gotta find prizes and make stuff and I'm lazy).
Humblesage, You are welcome to attempt the DD hills with a single speed. Only two riders in DD history have completed it on single-speeds: Montana Miller and Gunnar Shogren. Don't expect anyone else to use one though.
I'd definitely like to try it, but I may need more that a few weeks training.
"The Dirty Half Dozen Plus One" ride is a go. Look for it on the calendar, and on Facebook. I will make a flyer at some point as well.
Saturday Aug. 13th Meet at the Bud Harris Cycling Oval at 11am. We'll roll out at 11:15. Ride covers the first seven hills of the Dirty Dozen From Center ave to Suffolk st. Ride will be roughly 25 miles.
We will ride between hills casually though in true Dirty Dozen style we'll blow the whistle at the start of the climbs and record the placement at the top. We'll wait to regroup and continue. There will be a mid ride food stop in Millvale as well.
There will be a follow vehicle driven by the lovely Becca to carry some snacks and spare tubes. (it is not a broom wagon so do not expect to be sagged!)
There are no prizes just pain.
Nice! Thanks Ted
Any further word on the alleycat?
Blast. I have weddings to attend that day.
Hey everyone, know anyone that would be interested in providing a follow car so that Becca can attend the Pinball Championship ride?
Also, I will not be throwing an alleycat that night. Those interested in riding in an alleycat should attend "The Tour de Franzia" Aug. 19th. It will be part team race, part box wine binge. Bon apetit!
