Official Seersucker Saunter hype-up thread

Just a reminder to get your dapper dandy attire ready for the summer revision of the tweed ride.

We're heading to the Priory Hotel on the North Side this time where refreshments will be provided, and a cash bar will be open (Mimosa? Yes please.)

It was suggested that we lead a group from the depths of Lawrenceville up to the lofty starting point of the Second Sunday Seersucker Saunter in Schenley Park, and we thought that this was a mighty fine idea. We'll leave the ClankWorks shop at 34th & Butler & Penn at 9am, and if you would like to head over with us, you are more than welcome.

Looking forward to the ride- Hope you all can join us!

I don't have anything that's seersucker. I'll probably just wear my lightweight tan suit altered to shortpants....

I think I'm going to wear my gingham dress that looks like someone threw me onto a picnic, rolled me up and then sewed it together.

Can't wait!

i might go down to salv-arm or GW and pick up a seersucker suit. wow, how cultured am i - all this time i saw seersucker at thrift stores and thought to myself, "wow, what a shitty fabric for it to shrink in that funny way"

Let's see if I have this right.

The pool ride, the bridge ride, and the seersucker ride are all on August 8?

As near as I can see, 3 of the 4 Bike week events I want to participate in are on the same day. :(

[edit: I just checked and the Bridges ride is Aug 7, so maybe I CAN do it all.]

Seersucker is harder to find than you might think.

I really wish I wasn't going to miss this.

@Mick, part of the reason we had the seersucker earlier in the day was to encourage people to make it to some/all of the pool ride as well! *crosses fingers*

And really, any dapper summer regalia shall do, but the more seer the better!

have seersucker lined up -- I think. But may opt for gingham to stir things up a bit.

My hubby and I will be riding our vintage bicycles in the ride. We weren't able to find seersucker, but we'll be in appropriate retro clothing. This is going to be fun!

Just a quick change to the Priory party information - there will be no cash bar, but the Mimosas and pastries are free!

This was a very cool ride, thanks for putting it on! The weather could not have been any more spectacular, in Pgh, in August, so, good work. I could have used one more little loop on the saunter, maybe through the Point and over to the north shore, it just seemed like it was over too soon, but I guess there were other rides to get on to. That's my only comment.

The people from the Priory were so great, excellent snacks and mimosas, that courtyard is bee-yootiful. I want to make sure they get big thanks for that. I think this should qualify them as a bike friendly business.

I concur with Edmonds.....a slightly longer ride would have been great. I was thinking it would have been neat to continue from Mkt. Square to the Point, across the pedestrian bridge to North Shore, up Merchant/Scotland to the Park, then a quick turn around Western/Allegheny Streets before returning to the Priory through the Park. It would have added - maybe - two miles - and would have taken us through the oldest parts of Allegheny City.

+1 on the Priory comments. Jill and ??? (crap, forgot his name already!) could not have been more gracious as hosts! They are DEFINITELY bike friendly!

Thanks to Drew, Brian and the rest of the folks at Clankworks for putting this together. What's next? Hunter's Moon in blaze orange? Flannel frolic? Plaid parade?

The priory definitely dressed to impress, both Tim (and Jill) and the building and courtyard itself! A big thanks indeed.

For anyone who took any photos/videos along the ride, if you could email them along to info@clankworks.com, we will start compiling onto our flickr page. Link to come soon!

Thanks again to all who came, and look forward to the second tweed ride in the coming months!

Ooh, Sara, there's an idea for like Nov/Dec - kind of an Elmer Fudd-plaid-orange ride! That would be fun. It would have it's own sort of W Pa spin.

fun ride and fun people, though I feel like I still missed talking to and meeting some of you. The Priory was a great host and I look forward to them completing their Bike Friendly Employer designation soon. Thanks to Clankworks and Priory for a fun morning.
