Online Bike Shops
So I am all about advocating to buy from local shops that deserve your business, BUT, online stores are often a good resource for finding what is available and getting a sense of prices. Which ones do you all peruse? Here's my list...
rivbike.com
velo-orange
somafab.com
jensonusa
nashbar
any others?
chainlove.com - mtb gear
bonktown.com - road gear
hucknroll.com - more mtb gear
pricepoint.com
Someone posted here a few weeks back about panniers from probikekit.com for pretty cheap. Figure ~2-3% more from the list prices for foreign currency exchange fee on your credit card. They are in the UK, but have reasonable shipping fees to the US.
Speedgoat.com.
Reasonably local.
Sellwood Cycle Repair, if only to ogle their selection of used bikes.
Hiawatha Cyclery -- not necessarily cheap, but they have a nice selection of "practical" stuff.
I find that these guys http://www.universalcycles.com/ have a very broad selection and really good photos. A lot of times I just need to see a photo of something...
this thread looks like my bookmark list. Adding two,
modernbike.com
bikesdirect's other storefront bikeisland.com
There's a guy I buy from on Ebay, not exactly local but he is just one just guy selling parts, good prices great customer service, here's his number if you don't do the Ebay
Bikemanforu is here. just give me a call (631)-902-0836 from 9am-5pm
(NY time)
Been in bike biz for 30+ years
bikeman.com
aebike.com
both these places have had the cheapest parts that i have needed and no one mentioned them... also i have never dealt with aebike customer service because they have always been great, but bikeman customer service was really awesome when a problem arose
also AEbike has daily specials that are sometimes good!
I have used bikeman a couple times. No complaints, good prices.
