Open Streets Etna / Sharpsburg

Our friends in Etna and Sharpsburg are giving open streets a try too on June 25, Pittsburgh's open street takes place the next day on June 26 http://triblive.com/news/neighborhoods/foxchapel/10521821-74/sharpsburg-streets-street
Open Streets Sharpsburg/Etna is aimed at showcasing revitalization in both river towns. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 25, more than 65 vendors will fill the streets with food, music, crafts and demonstrations. Main Street in Sharpsburg will be shut down from Sixth to 11th streets; parts of Butler and Freeport streets in Etna will be closed, too. “There is so much to see and do that day for both young and old alike,” said Sharpsburg Councilman Greg Domian, who is spearheading the festivities. “Five hours may not be enough time to take in everything. Never has anything like this happened in either of the two towns.”

Great idea. It would be awesome to have the place flooded with cyclist so the boro councils can see how many cyclists there are in their communities, and how important bike infra is needed to get them there safely. visibility = lobbying

[bump! this is this weekend! If you'd like to ride over in a group, meet us at the Doughboy at 10 am Saturday. Route will depend on who shows up---all are welcome---but will involve a bridge, possibly a hill, and probably at least some fast automotive traffic.]
