10/10/10 is a Sunday. What type of commuter bike ride during commuter hours ride were you thinking of?
Organize a ride for 350.org on 10/10/10 ?
Hi All,
I'm wondering if we'd like to organize a human-powered transportation event on 10/10/10 as part of the international 350.org campaign.
The basic idea is that science tells us we need to reduce atmospheric CO2 concentrations to 350ppm in order to maintain a climate to which civilization is adapted. We are at 390ppm.
So, 350.org started to rally global action around reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing political pressure on governments the world over to commit to reducing emissions.
In 2009, the NY Times called the 350.org day of action the largest day of citizen action in history. Literally. Nearly every nation participated.
This year, on October 10, 2010 -- The call is on again to organize an event that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and increases political awareness. We can create an event, post it on 350.org, and start recruiting people through the post.
I'm wondering if anyone is willing to help take the lead on organizing a commuter bike ride during commuting hours to get high visibility around emissions-free transportation and the 350.org message.
Thanks for your thoughts!
Commute to church. A tour of cool churches in the city during mass hours, or better yet, during right-between-masses hours?
While not exactly a commuter ride, the stealthily publicized first annual Tour de Lebo 25ish mile ride is already scheduled for that date. I think there is also supposed to be some other more kid friendly bike related stuff happening too.
