A friend introduced me to the place/idea last year at... maybe a pre-opening party? Very dangerous place, alluring like a regular book store but less stern, add food and there's no hope of escape.
OT: Shameless advertising on behalf of The Big Idea Bookstore
So I've been involved with The Big Idea Bookstore for about a year now, and as many of you know, we've successfully moved into a bigger space and become a worker-owned cooperative! The last step to completing our expansion is to start serving coffee and snacks, since that will be the only way to stay in business. We are still volunteer-run, and all revenue from daily sales, donations, etc goes into keeping the store open.
To help with this process, we've started a fundraising campaign on IndieGoGo, a site similar to kickstarter, the main difference being that the project is funded even if the goal is not met.
Many of you have seen me post the link on facebook, so forgive the redundancy if that's the case.
Our campaign has raised almost $2,000 of our $3000 goal, and we have 12 days left. In adding up our startup costs and what we realistically need in order to have our grand opening, we realize more and more that every penny helps, and appreciate all the support we have from the community. Please donate, if you feel inclined to do so, or pass the link along to friends who might be interested and able to do so.
Thanks!
