I wouldn't suggest the double wide. I worked there for a short time a few years ago. It was a common practice in the kitchen there for the seitan wings to be cooked in a fryer with meat, even though there was a vegan only fryer. I'm sure someone that is vegan wouldn't go for that. I would recommend Zenith cafe in the south side. I went to the Sunday brunch buffet there not long ago and it was awesome. The vegan chocolate cake was the best. You can check out their facebook on Saturday night to see what they are serving on Sunday. I have also heard good things about quiet storm but haven't had the chance to find out yself yet.
OT: Vegan restaurants
A friend of mine is looking for places with vegan options while visiting this weekend. Besides double wide, any suggestions? Does OTB have vegan food?
zenith
spak bros
East End Food Co-op is good about labeling stuff in their cafe/take-out section.
Maybe Zenith on the S Side?
4th'd Zenith. Lots o' food for little o' cash.
MoGlo in your 'hood has some vegan items on the menu, as well as a couple of options during Sunday brunch.
Abay, on South Highland has a lot of vegan options, plus, you get to eat with your hands
Come to me stefb, I will feeeeeeeedd youu
Mmmm...Abay. Yumyumyum.
Curious. Don't most chinese restaurants have some vegan tofu dishes?
All of the above. You can't forget about Quiet Storm, either.
@Mick Yes, though some sauces have fish or oyster sauce in them, so it's best to ask.
I was talking about them today over lunch with my former boss. good south indian fud. There's a reason why they're so secluded: every dish prepared is like a cosmic a-bomb; no neighboring business could survive the constant explosions of wonderfulness.
Knowing my wife's taste in food I'm betting it's gonna be spak.
+1 Udipi mmmmm!
I had no idea what Zenith was for the longest time when i'd walk by daily..Haha. Thought maybe they sold antiques from the outside..Haha.Still gotta go there one of these days.
they sell antiques, vintage clothing, and are also a restaurant. Not gonna lie, I felt very awkward in there, because I was looking around, and when I sat down, it took about 10 minutes for someone to realize I was there. but the food was good.
thanks everyone.
Spak Bros...
