Crap -hit & run too?
Penn Ave strikes again
A coworker reported a bike/car wreck at Penn @ ELB tonight (I'm out of town so I didn't see/hear anything myself). Sounds like a left hook, but he thinks the cyclist is ok.

sounds like the driver stopped (and was trying to blame the cyclist?)
Classy.... glad to hear the cyclists seemed fine & that your friend called for help.
I'm surprised that there's no building security cam on that corner that might provide footage. One would think the googles has some cams of their own as well.
I hope the rider's OK!
I got buzzed (nearly clipped) (deliberately) (with bonus GET OFF THE ROAD shouting) right up the road from there at Penn & Fifth on Tuesday. Penn Avenue just rots from stem to stern, with a slight exception for the 50 feet in front of Bike PGH.
i was riding the scarier part of penn ave yesterday. to avoid parts of it, i rode along thomas blvd. i felt like i was going to avoid any potentially dangerous interactions. then at the intersection of thomas and north dallas, literally THREE cars ran the red light AROUND me while i was in the middle of the intersection (because i was going, because the green light means go). i was dumbstruck. i think that was the first time i avoided penn because the ghost bike got me kinda sad and scared. not doing that again.
I'm getting better at using my helmet cam. Sounds like I need to be.
I wrote an article that's related to the bike accidents on Penn Avenue. (Salty is featured in the audio version of the story; the audio is right under the photo slide-show.) Here's the link: http://publicsource.org/investigations/when-street-not-street
^ Emily, that's an interesting story -- thanks for investigating this & putting the link here. I didn't know about "paper streets" before.
^^ Yes, well done. Thanks for sharing!
