FYI, it looks like the private messages don't work when you try to send them from the profile page.
The PM link on the profile page is always using a user id of zero. Here's the link I get every time:
http://bike-pgh.org/bbpress/message.php?user=0
However, it should have the proper user id number in the url... in my case it's 15882. So the URL should look like this:
http://bike-pgh.org/bbpress/message.php?user=15882
You CAN send a PM from the Private Message link under a person's name in a discussion thread, just not from their user profile page.
However, it does appear that the message submits fine and it shows up in your sent messages. However, the 'TO' column will be empty in the sent messages list.
There is no error message indicating the message didn't get sent to the intended recipient.
The gravatars are being weird, at least on my devices. They are mostly mismatched with the names of the poster.
It also eats threads pretty often too.
It's probably time for some real forum software...
