i pulled onto the sidewalk for an ambulance yesterday and the guy gave me a really nice wave/salute
a motorcycle yelled something at me, i assumed he was being a dick and ignored him going into ahhh i got to get out of here he's going to kill me mode. he stopped about 30 seconds after me at my destination (more than a mile later), got off his (motor)bike and came over and gave me a fist pound because i got there faster than him and i didn't have a motor.
A guy on a cruiser once invited me to race him down Liberty Avenue. I said OK. He won.
On my way into town this morning, I had a cop order me to ride on the sidewalk.... this was in Bloomfield & they had Liberty locked down from the bridge to 40th for the Chief's motorcade.
^ OT, but I wonder if CMU robotics was able to hang onto their PVC pipe during this visit?.
But you got through - unlike if you had been in a car. I had a similar experience when HRC stopped in at the full-service Gulf station there in order to get a photo-op with the most extravagant gasoline price sign she could find. Kinda crazy, the road was blocked, and the cop told me I could go through but I had to stay on the sidewalk through the roadblock area. Whatever. I guess it would look bad if the motorcade ran over somebody in the road.
OT but I love the comments on that news article. Gives me back some small hope for humanity.
a car was parked/stopped at a stop sign and i rolled through the stopsign the same time the parked car decided to go and we both slammed on the brakes, the woman in the car said "be careful out there hunny!" it was nice
Last time they repaved 18th street, I cruised down it with rather baffled Harley guys.
i went over my bars on wednesday in front of the Birmingham bridge on carson, because i saw a van starting to turn in front of me, i assumed the couldn't see me and i slammed on the break, did a front flip over top. the car that was turning saw and stopped to make sure i was ok. i thought that was nice, because it wasn't their fault at all, just a freak accident.
