Ha ha. There are a lot of related videos too. Never saw those things, they act almost like a speed bump.

Seems a little over the top, doing thousands of dollars damage to engine and transmission for running a light. This is a level beyond the "severe tire damage" spikes that pop up at car rental shops, which do about $500 in ruined tires. Add a gate ahead of it, and a really good reason for having such a diabolical restriction in the first place, then maybe.

It was fun to watch the video but, I think that might be overkill.

I'm always really impressed by the people who try to run these, especially like in the video you posted. There are related videos where they use them to keep people out of bus lanes, which I think is pretty cool.

I wonder if the people in this video were trying to avoid paying for parking or something? Otherwise they just couldnt wait 5 seconds for a green light, and has been said, really messed up their car in the process.

Ha ha that was great. I bet those people learn to stop the next time they get to that light.

I don't think they are red lights but more like stop signs that are enforced by physical objects.

My impression from some of the related videos is that people try to beat the bollard by hugging the tail end of a bus, in order to get access to an express lane. Also that these things are posted with signs everywhere. Undoubtedly, some of these people are drunk or high or severely tired. Sorry, I think that if you can't see the posted signs and you blow the red light, you're too impaired to be driving at all. thousands of dollars of damage to the car is a lot more likely to convince you of the error of your ways than a thousand-dollar fine would be -- people who get the fine would be more likely to blame "the man" because they know, they just know, that they're special and can drive safely despite blowing .15

I would be more worried about sub-frame damage, but fixing a car is cheaper than fixing a person....
