nice shots pratt. that fork fail...what happened?
It was a really fun day...nice in muddy in spots but perfect temps and sunny.
Fork? I think Sharon just lost grip on her tire, turned the front end and drove it into the ground. She had to settle for 2nd in the "downhill" stage....running across the line with bike in hand.
From what I saw of the fork accident, she lost it on a steep downhill and slid into a tree. Most have hit things just right, she didn't seem to be going that fast. Bent fork, wheel and disc rotor. She said it was her first new bike in 12 years.
This was a great day of riding. I hope all the folks that got stuck behind me going slow on the trails didn't get too pissed off. Can't wait for next year.
Wow! From the videos it looks like you had about 150 people there.
The head count at the start of stage 2 put the numbers somewhere north of 220 people.
Really pleasant day over all. Sunny, not as cold as it should have been, and the trails were more rideable than I expected, at least the sections I got to ride.
Most of my day was spent at the bottom of the hill, passing time with tea and pipe tobacco, interspersed with scoring, keg management and starting the random stage. Good times!
"tea" "pipe 'tobacco,'" "Keg management"
Critical tasks, indeed.
I might come out and assist next year.
That was muy mucho fun. My face still hurts from hitting a tree, but a great time nonetheless.
