Recommended bikeable transmission shops

I've been trying to get my car fixed up before starting my new job and made good headway yesterday, unfortunately there's a check engine code that's transmission related. The shop owner who did the majority of the work strongly recommended Cottman Transmission on Lebanon Church Road out by Allegheny County Airport. This is in range assuming a pretty direct route back to squirrel hill isn't too nuts. Can go during non-descript daylight hours which presumably helps. Anyone have experience with the roads out that way? If it's sounding really unpleasant, transmission shop recommendations closer in would also be helpful.

I've heard that Army's Transmission on Forest Avenue in Homestead does really good work, i.e., they have high integrity and actually diagnose problems, rather than changing parts until the problem goes away. This comes from a few friends who are themselves mechanics and are difficult people to make happy. Biking there would be very easy. My dad had a transmission rebuilt in a 1970 Grand Prix not long ago and was happy with the service; I will ask who did it the next time we talk.

The only thing I know about Cottman Transmission is that they have a cool transmission mailbox, and I'm glad I remembered it since I haven't been by there in probably 5+ years (verified on Google Maps)

I trust the guys at Baum Blvd automotive so you may want to call them and see what shops they recommend thatcmade closer. I mean, they donate to wyep and wesa and belong to bike Pgh as far as I know.
