Stay out past your bed time and ride!
Midnight Flock is a Flock of Cycles group bicycle ride in Pittsburgh, PA that meets at 11:59pm on the first Friday of the month at Dippy by the Carnegie Library on Forbes Ave.
The pace is significantly faster than the other Flock of Cycles rides, but no one gets left behind. If you hate hills, this is may not be the ride for you.
We usually ride 15-30 miles depending on the night, with the group slowly dropping off around 1:30-3a.
This ride stops at red lights and acts courteously to all traffic (motor vehicles and pedestrians included).
Lights are MANDATORY and helmets are STRONGLY encouraged.
BE ADVISED: If the roads are slick, the ride will be canceled. I will post a message here and on Facebook.
CANCELED.
Between the snow, wet roads, and cold temps, I figured it would be best to stay inside.
Noooooooooo! I was purposefully staying up for this. I envisioned blinky lights and starting half an hour late
Sorry, I'm just trying to look out for the best interests of everyone.
Yeah, I think we all appreciate you looking out for the community.
FoC probably doesn't need a story of us all wiping out going down a hill or something
I just biked over from Shadyside to Oakland. Finally some studded tire weather. I was going faster than the cars, for once.
I just biked from Friendship to LVille. Gross. I'd better get my MTB up and running.
I had fun Ellsworth was totally covered in snow, cars were crawling along.
Took us 45 mins to get home from the waterfront. My little Fit was sliding. Good call on canceling.
i would have enjoyed it if i were on a steed better prepared for it. my road bike with regular non-knobby tires? not so much. the nasty mess it left on the floor after all the accumulated slush melted isn't too welcome either
I used to keep a dining hall tray in my dorm room closet at Geneseo for the unicycle's usually snowy tire. The year they got new trays and dumpstered the remaining thousand or so of the previous batch, I was so miffed. I would totally have nabbed a few dozen.
Anyone out there with inside info on local schools planning to do likewise soon?
