ride across PA (RAP)

I looked for a thread on Ride Across PA (RAP) but didn't find one. Thinking about doing this ride this year. Has anyone done it before? Thoughts?

I am the SAG wagon for this tour and people have a blast on it... I've already scouted the route for the one this year (North to South, East side of PA) and it's going to be pretty great, better than last year I think, more scenic, more farms... i would definitely recommend it if you enjoy road riding, we had a pretty good group last year, I want to say like 22 people, so everyone had a couple people going their pace. I'll try to keep my eye on this thread, lemme know if you have any questions.

Here's a question you may not know the answer to but I'll give it a shot. I eat a mostly vegan diet. I say mostly bc I will eat honey and I don't call manufacturers to ask about trace animal products in food dyes and stabilizers, etc. But I completely avoid dairy, meat, fish, eggs, etc.

I see that some meals are provided on the ride. Will they provide an option for strict vegetarians/vegans?

One of our staff is a strict vegan and we're happy to accommodate any dietary constraints.

As a side note we do this tour at the peak of farmers markets and the last route (and i'd be willing to guess this one too) passed tons of yummy farm stands where we were all stuffed to the gills with veggies and other wonderful farm treats.

hell yeah farmer's market

I am seriously considering. Also trying to convince my husband. He's afraid his junk isn't tough enough for that much time in the saddle -- lol. :)

generally we offer a half day for anyone that wants/needs it... so if there is a day of 50 miles there is usually a 30ish option... no promises though!

Q: I have more questions. Who should I ask?

A: Ask our Bike Tour Coordinator, Seth Gernot, by emailing biketour@ventureoutdoors.org or by calling 412.255.0564 ext 235.

I left a VM for Seth G. I got a message from the person in the main office that it was canceled.

Seth will be back in the office on the 26th, if you email him he might get back to you before then. Sorry we had to cancel, we could probably work out a similar private tour if you're interested.
