Riding on Freeport Rd beyond the Waterworks Mall

How is riding on Freeport Rd beyond the Waterworks these days? I read a couple of past threads on the subject but they refer to specific sections of the road, and they are from a few years ago. I also know about a crash involving a driver hitting a group ride a couple of years ago, I think, but that seems like an isolated incident. My goal is to ride to Freeport and perhaps beyond (Freeport-Butler trail, Ford City, etc.). I have no issue riding to the Waterworks from the city but haven't ventured further than that on a bike. The only other section of that road that I'm familiar with is the shopping area in Harmar. So, looking for some more recent info on Freeport Rd. Thanks!

Harmar area is pretty busy from Target to turnpike on ramp. It's 2 lanes each way and fast speeds. Before that there's a wide shoulder for most of the way. Things are calmer in cheswick/Springdale because is one lane each way. Make sure to stop at Glen's for custard.

Thanks, Eric. From experience passing through there, I know the Harmar area is likely to have fast traffic. I'll make sure to check out Glen's when I pass through :-)
