I've always had very positive reviews of the event, and last year we had over 25 people on the ride, and about the same of more for the potluck afterwards. So -why not do it again? :) And YES! Fundraising for the Food Bank! I will have a list of the items they need once we get closer to that date. Looking forward!

FACEBOOK EVENT for those who like to RSVP: https://www.facebook.com/events/1502770673283495/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming If you’re up for a mellow ride, come on down! We'll do the 10-mile flat route I’m also 100% sure that it’ll be a fun potluck afterwards! Bring something to share, or some money -we always stop by a grocery store to buy whatever else we might need! Potluck usually goes until sunset Due to weather it gets cold hanging there (at potluck site), so bring something to warm up. We also try to keep a good fire to stay warm I’m also almost a 100% sure that the “VIKING POTLUCK” is the first outdoor grill/gathering in that park :) SO let’s call out to Valhalla and the goddesses & gods of spring! PS: If you’re planning on maybe coming, please post in here so I can do some proper-prepping!

SO..... who's coming? What are they bringing for food to share for the Potluck? I think I might make my "mexican cactus salad". Anyone else? Remember we always make a stop at a local grocery to buy stuff as-needed

BUMP!!! It is obvious with all this snow, that the Valhalla Gods are unhappy :/ But still, to whoever is up for it -tomorrow we ride!

What a great day! I think we had about 25(?) folks for most of the ride, with quite a few joining us later on the Southside for grub and good times. Thanks to bikeygirl and the Valhalla Gods for such a great afternoon!

We were talking at the post-ride grubfest about how this whole Viking thing got started. I remembered that we had a whole bunch of threads talking about Vikings, so started paging back through the thread history to find the specific one. For starters, here are the threads from previous years' rides: 2013 Thread: http://localhost/mb/topic/save-the-date-viking-bike-ride-potluck-2013-edition-323/ 2012 Thread: http://localhost/mb/topic/any-interest-in-a-2012-version-of-epic-viking-ride-potluck/ 2011 Second thread about the ride itself: http://localhost/mb/topic/epic-ride-viking-bike-ride-potluck-party-to-welcome-spring-march-26/ 2011 First thread about a ride: http://localhost/mb/topic/any-interest-on-a-viking-ride/page/5/#post-202515 One of a couple of 2011 threads that led to the idea in the first place: http://localhost/mb/topic/should-we-abandon-share-the-road/ http://localhost/mb/topic/so-what-are-your-other-interestshobbies/ http://localhost/mb/topic/cyclist-has-splinter-removed-from-leg-after-crash/ We already had the idea by 19 Feb 2011: http://localhost/mb/topic/music/page/4/#post-168323 http://localhost/mb/topic/distasteful-questions-practical-issues-for-women-on-long-rides/page/2/#post-200091 http://localhost/mb/topic/el-pistelero-suspended-for-doping/#post-191510 OK, here is the original suggestion, and it was Lucia's! 8 Feb 2011 http://localhost/mb/topic/vegetarian-cyclist-looking-to-lose-weight-and-train-for-endurance/page/2/#post-201729 One of the more lively discussions from earlier weeks: 29 Jan http://localhost/mb/topic/another-week-another-complaint/page/3/#post-190240 28 Jan http://localhost/mb/topic/ot-bad-news-for-anyone-who-eats/page/2/#post-201359 27 Jan http://localhost/mb/topic/goggles-over-glasses/#post-201278 http://localhost/mb/topic/why-real-police-are-better-than-cameras/page/2/#post-200497 25 Jan http://localhost/mb/topic/heres-a-funny-story/page/3/#post-200413 Here is the first Viking reference, from Erica, 23 Jan 2011, 9:02 p.m. The thread was a lively interchange about lane-taking. http://localhost/mb/topic/heres-a-funny-story/page/2/#post-200371 So cheers to Erica and Lucia! Vikings forever!
