Slick Roads in HP, Shadyside, Oakland

It appears as if an inbound 71A was dumping oil this morning. Negley, Center, and Fifth are downright dangerous, with a nice layer of oil coating the already wet streets.

Be aware, especially around intersections. I spun out once, and locked my rear wheel once, too.

Did you 311 it? That's probably a good thing to call in about.

Just verified this with the PAT Police:

If you see a PAT bus with a serious mechanical problem, esp one that causes a dangerous driving condition for other traffic, get the bus # (and route if you have it) and call PAT Police at 412-255-1350.

ALL buses drip water off the right rear corner. This comes from the A/C unit to dehumidify the interior, which runs all year even on cold days. (So do most cars.) Be sure what you're seeing is really oil or some other non-water fluid, then call it in.

I didn't actually see a bus dripping anything, but using my supreme powers of deductions, figured that since the right hand side of the road along the 71A route was snot slick a bus just may have been suffering from a mechanic issue.

I had a car a few years back that developed a really bad oil leak. I was adding a quart of oil every 75 miles. Lots of cars and trucks out there go through a quart every 500 or so. So it isn't necessarily buses.
