Qr sucks in the woods. Thru axle ftw!
Some Daily Required Reading
About a month ago i built my first bike with disk brakes. Late to the game, I know, especially for a mountain biker.
I found this article about the physical forces involved when you stop your bike with disk brakes.

Anyone who has a bike with disk brakes should read this. At the very least it's interesting and it could save your bike and/or your life.
Last night I was riding Frick and I experienced what they describe in the article. My front QR came loose suddenly. Luckily I was going slow when I noticed it and nothing catastrophic happened.
The bottom line is that I'm going to be a lot move vigilant with my QR skewer in the future; like checking it before every ride or after going down a big hill.
The next bike I have will be getting a fork with a thru axle.
