Southwest planning comm seeking input for peds/bikes for highland Pk br redo

Tim McLaughlin emailed me today re this   I cut and pasted it   Hello everyone, The Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC) is currently developing the region’s Active Transportation Plan to improve bicycle and pedestrian accessibility in the region’s communities. Their stated goal is to tie together local planning efforts, and identify opportunities and strategies for interconnected regional pedestrian and bicycle networks. Interested Aspinwall residents should take SPC’s survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SWPAATP. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes and all responses are confidential. The feedback obtained will be used in development of the Active Transportation Plan. The survey will closes on June 23rd, 2017. More importantly, there is a place to actually type suggestions in a “Public Input Form” with the same 6 23 2017 deadline. We ask that before June 23rd, 2017 residents go to: http://www.spcregion.org/trans_tip_projform.asp. And follow the below steps: 1. First fill out the contact information (First and Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip, and e-mail) 2. Under “Problem Locations: County” select “Allegheny" 3. Under “Municipality” please enter in “City of Pittsburgh, O’Hara Township, Sharpsburgh Borough, and Aspinwall Borough” 4. Leave "Proposal Title” blank 5. Under “Location (e.g., local road name, state route number, interstate number or bridge name)” please enter “SR 1001/SR1005/Freeport Road/Highland Park Bridge/SR28”. 6. Now scroll down to the section labelled “Pedestrian, Bicycle, & Alternative Travel Modes”, leaving every thing blank in between. Immediately below this heading there are a list of boxes to check. Please selec:t “There is no existing pedestrian facility”, “There are no curb cuts for wheelchairs”, “There are no pedestrian crossing signals/call buttons”, and “New bicycle lane or shadow is needed”. 7. In the section below labeled “Other pedestrian/bicycle concern:” please paste some version of the below statement: “The Highland Park Bridge/Freeport RD/ and Route 28 interchange is unsatisfactory for both foot and bicycle traffic. It truly is a barrier to healthy living and economic development to the surrounding communities. This intersection currently lacks crosswalks and wheel chair curb cuts. There are no bike lanes. This is shocking considering the large amount of people who walk to work, local parks, the zoo, etc. People also catch the bus, run and ride a bike in and around this area. Obviously, this interphase needs to be redesigned to include accommodations for bike lanes/bike traffic/pedestrians/handicap, the young and elderly. We understand that this section of road is being discussed for a redesign and are encouraged to see that the SR 28/Highland Park Bridge Interchange is listed as one of the TIP projects currently advancing. As part of this development, it is imperative that consideration be given to pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and include all travelers (ADA, bicyclists, pedestrians of all ages, including those needing stroller accessibility).” 8. Once completed scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit submit. You should get a e-mail stating that your comments have been received. Thank you for doing this little bit that we hope will lead to improvements for those of among us trying to walk to Sharpsburg or the zoo, or ride our bike to Lawrenceville or Pittsburgh.

Agree with Marko's assessment. The 2nd link is more worth your while. And if you want I assume you can use the link to complain about other areas but not sure what good that will do other than making you feel better.
