spare shifter cable?
Does anyone have an extra shifter cable that I could purchase? I was planning on biking to DC starting in the morning. I've got camping/train reservations. Anyway, I was just tuning my derailluer when my shifter cable snapped! I don't know what bike shops are open on memorial day, but I know REI should be open at 11 am. That would set me back a few hours, but might work. Does anyone know if other bike shops open early tomorrow? I suppose its a good thing this happened now and not on the trail because I definitely wasn't planning to bring shifter cables.

I do as well; give me a call at 412-six five one- four six three four if you still need a cable tomorrow morning. I should be biking into the city in the early morning and could meet somewhere convenient.

Thanks both of you! @fly, the cable worked great! I had the gears shifting properly in no time. I spent about 2 hours trying to get the thing to index properly earlier and was having no luck. It was so bad I was about ready to give up on cycling altogether! Then the cable snapped... what a surprise! I guess I'll know what to look for next time, and I'll definitely bring a spare cable on touring rides!
