STOLEN Fuji Absolute 3

Hi everyone, My silver Fuji Absolute 3.0 was stolen last night (Tuesday April 29) at the Mellon Institute off a rack on S. Bellefield Ave. Picture below - any help in finding my bike would be greatly appreciated! My bike also had a rack and a rear and front headlight, a black helmet was also stolen along with it.

So sorry to hear about your bike. We were able to recover a few bikes last year, so keep your fingers crossed. If you havent already, please consider filing a city police report. This helps get the theft counted in citywide statistics and helps the police identify trouble spots. They cant address the problem if they dont know about it. You might also want to contact some of the area bicycle shops since they have recovered bikes in the past as well. (Thick, Bicycle Heaven, Iron City, etc.) Also, I hope you don't mind me asking, but how was the bike locked? Based on several years of postings on this message board, we have yet to have a bike stolen while properly locked with a U-lock. Not blaming the victim here, just trying to keep track of the sophistication of the thieves.

Already reported the theft to the police as well as the National Bike Registry. My bike was locked through the front wheel and frame to the rack with a Kryptonite KryptoFlex Combo Cable - not as secure as a U-lock. I can only assume it was pried open somehow.

Cables are notoriously easy to cut through with simple hand tools that fit in a pocket... Honestly, they are more appropriate for locking a saddle or a front wheel to the frame. It's best to use a u-lock for the back wheel and frame. Even then, nothing is theft proof. Sorry that this happened to you, I hope it turns up! On the bright side, you already took some great steps posting here, reporting to the police, having a photo handy, etc. That should increase the odds significantly. I'll keep an eye out. Good luck!

Was this thing straight up silver or was it slightly tinted a certain color? found one in a sketchy pawn shop that didnt seem fitting.
