I put Suomi W240 40 mm tires on an old wheel set. Tried them out today for the first time. They seem to work fine (though conditions were not really challenging). What other experiences do people have?

I've been using Schwalbe Winter Marathons, and have been happy to have one on my front wheel since it got cold, mainly as insurance. This was the first morning in over a month that I felt like it helped. But mostly I manage things by not going too fast, and braking with my rear wheel only.

I put my Nokian/Suomi Mount and Ground studded tires on early this season, probably way too early. I've had good experiences with them. Didn't get a chance to use them today, though, went with the first "live fire" exercise w/ the fat tires.

They do bring new meaning to "rolling resistance" but that is I suppose sort of the point. I practically had to pedal *down* our street, which is a 10% grade...
