aww shucks. you made my day

With all of the news, stories, and experiences concerning cycling recently, I think it is important for us all to take a step back and thank Bike Pittsburgh for all of the hard work they have done in the past to get us to the point where we are now.
Think about how the city used to be compared to now--it's not perfect, but the improvement is huge! We are starting to see more bike lane, more racks, and most of all, more understanding drivers.
Plus, as the community grows in numbers it also pulls people closer. I would be willing to bet that 80% of the people I consider my friends today, I would never have met if it wasn't for Bike Pittsburgh.
Without Scott, Erok, Lou, interns, and all of the members, my life wouldn't be what it is.
Thanks Guys!

I'll drink to that.
As someone who is both is relatively new to the city (moved here a hear and a half ago from New Jersey) and new to cycling as of last year, Bike Pittsburgh has been instrumental in keeping me on my bike and getting to know so much of the community. Without bikepgh to hold everything together, I can't imagine I'd know nearly as many awesome people or places as I do, and for all that I'm eternally grateful that such a wonderful organization exists.
Thanks!
Way into this posi post! We, as people who ride bikes have done so much to make this city better for biking, and I'm happy that Bike Pittsburgh is one of the public faces of that.
Whenever someone says to me, "But Pittsburgh is so scary to ride a bike in!" I think: "You obviously weren't riding 4 years ago!" So much has changed!
Agreed, excellent work is being done by BikePgh & I'm proud to be a member of the organization & part of its vocal community
Cheers!
Yep, many thanks to all. I'm sold on the value Bike-Pgh provides to all of us.
Like robjdlc, I moved here a little over a year and a half ago. My job is a likely a temporary (2-3 yrs) one. Aside from people I met at work, and my neighbors - the people I met through Bike-PGH are the majority of the people I know in the city. They alone are responsible for me not really looking forward to leaving when my employment here ends.
I've seen plenty of bike lane installed in the short time I've been in the city. If it keeps up at the current rate, Pittsburgh will continue its ascent up the bike-friendly city list. Great work all of you.
I've said this before but I moved here 20 years ago as a pretty active cyclist and all but gave it up after trying to ride here. I started riding again seriously about five years ago, but last year and this year have just been amazing to see. Everywhere you go there are folks on bicycles. I see so many commuters downtown which still amazes me. So good job Bike Pittsburgh! (And yes, I renewed my household membership for another year yesterday.)
Not only BikePGH but everyone in this city that actually smiles, waves or has started a conversation outside of OTB with me.Or ridden with me and anyone one of my friends since i moved here last June also.90percent of the peope i've met on bikes have been incredibly friendly! I even volunteered for some bike valet'ing the other day and stuffed some envelopes at the BikePGH headquarters to show my support. Thanks all!
hey yeah. peace to everyone who rides a bicycle, and thanks to bike pittsburgh for enabling us!
Most definitely, thank you BikePgh! It is true that over the last couple of years, the city has grown exponentially in it's bike-friendlines! There are so many bikes everywhere, or signs that bikes are welcome most-everywhere (share the road signs, trails, bike racks, road sharrows, maps, etc). Personally, I know that I feel safer and protected knowing that there is such an organization here in the city that is encouraging people to be better to the environment, to be healthier, and to have fun while enjoying this city in two-wheels!
Gracias
Agreed. I really appreciate B-pgh and value many wonderful folks i've met through it. I've especially learned a lot over the last couple months from checking in on the message board- it's a great supportive network. It's been really cool to see the work that's been done throughout the city to make biking the 'burgh both safer and friendlier. 3 cheers and a big thank you.
i moved here in the 90s and rode daily while in school and then as a messenger. as much as we still have room to grow, this town was a nightmare for anyone who wasn't an adrenaline junkie to ride in. thanks to bike-pgh, riding in this town will never be like that again. for that i am eternally grateful.
Big thumbs up to BikePgh and the progress they've made for the city. I moved here about 8 years ago and even though I rode competitive BMX as a young teen I had never thought about biking as anything more than hobby . City streets scared me as I believed there was no way to ride them without getting flattened. BikePgh has helped change that for me with the Bike Maps, bike advocacy, bike lanes, building a biking community, and general biking/commuting education. These all made getting on a bike (and on city streets) fairly seemless and SAFE for me personally! My wife now does her 8-10 mile commute daily on her bike, I do my 40 mile commute frequently by bike (or a hybrid commute), and we use our bikes for recreation rides (to dinner, parties, etc). We also frequently do 20-60 mile rides on weekends and are looking to work up to longer rides.
Keep up the great work BIKEPGH!
