Yessir!
This Friday
Flock All Night?
yes! what time do we meet/start?
can't wait. hope the weather cooperates. FAN is my JAM!
10pm, dippy. See you there!
waaiiiit a minute....
is this instead of the 5:30 FOC ride? Like if I show at 5:30 it'll be me and the dinosaur? Or is this after the standard FOC ride?
I think it got shuffled around because of the track race tonight.
This is Flock all Night. It is a night ride at 10pm on the second Friday of the month.
The original Flock of Cycles is at 6, on the second to the last Friday of the month.
Both these rides are the same style. Slow roll, no mountains, have fun.
oh man, thanks dwillen.
I would have felt SUPER rejected. Now I can just feel a little dumb, like normal
Don't worry ejwme, I didn't have it straight either... I just waited for someone to post about it! So, thanks.
Yea... it is confusing. From now on, the 5:30p is the Flock of Cycles Party Ride (FOCPR).
Nick D, you are in serious danger of saturating your market!
with the increase in temperatures as summer heightens, the solvent (FOC ride et al) should be able to absorb more solute (cyclists). After all, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate. Don't be precipitate, participate!
With the current weather conditions, I have definitely been precipitating.
"Don't be a drip. Join the flock!"
Mick, I doubt that. Since we have seen a steady increase in rider at all three rides, as well as a a stead increase on bicycles in general, there is plenty of demand.
For simplicity's sake, we should just do all three every week.
what chrsjxn said!!
I might rig up some of my light show for friday, just to be fancy, and to test it out.
I'm bringing some new-comers as well.
Well... if Rob is going to rig a preview, maybe I will too.
To clarify for anyone: Meet at 10, leave by 10:30.
Rain or [moon]shine.
if i show up i'm going to have all my mtb lights on. i will blind everyone.
if i don't show up, stef will have all my mtb lights on and she will blind you all.
I can't play all night, unfortunately. I'd like to do part of the ride, however. Any chance the ride master can identify a good "bail location" for those of us who need it? I'll be coming in from the burbs, so the plan would be to park my car in that area, ride to meet the group at dippy, and then bail when I got back near by car. Someplace maybe an hour or so into the ride? Or even someplace that has a virtual certainty of being passed at some point during the ride? You don't have to post it if you want to keep the route a secret. You can just PM me with the relevant information. Thanks!
Pick a place and we will arrange the ride around it--just pick someone easily assessable since we may have a decent sized group.
BTW, FAN is not actually all night.
if you get sick of flocking you can flock to the babes on bikes awesummer party at free ride y'all. dance party, food party, fun times!
@Nick FAN is not actually all night.
(sigh) Isn't that the way it ALWAYS is after they whispered in your ear in the barroom "Flock all night?"
I know it is bad form to drive to a ride, but I live outside the city, and would likely have to pass through the ELB zone heading to and fro tonight.
Can you suggest a reasonable place to park nearish the end of ride?
Nothing wrong driving to a bike ride.
You can park at Schenley plaza on the street, next to the library, or in front of Phipps. Pretty sure none of these metered spots are enforced at 10 pm...
The end of your ride is wherever you want it to be, its always safe to park near dippy because quite a few people (including nick) live a couple blocks from there.
Cool. Thanks.
No guarantees, but I might try to get there, too. As long as I can get to a late 11D or 500 back out of the city, I think I'm OK.
Anyone want to ride to the Freeride party afterwards?
I realize that the ride is not ALL night. I just have an early morning, so will have to depart earlier than most. My plan, at this point, is to park somewhere in the east end, ride to dippy, then hope the ride passes somewhere close to my car sometime before midnight. Maybe I'll start off at Free Ride, and jump ship there.
Ok, I tried to paste the ride map from last night, but????? I guess I don't know how?????
thanks for posting that! i forgot to track it. i didn't think we rode that far. it was a really fun ride. it was fun talking to/riding with all of you.
nice ride for sure. so glad the weather held out for it.
Shawn: the only embeddable content on this forum is images, can't do videos or iframes. Your code was fine, the forum software just doesn't allow it.
Pretty fun ride last night, seemed like a lot of us were a bit tired though.
Also, kibudeh sandwich? Thumbs down.
yeah those sandwiches were $5 of meh..
Mine hit the spot.
I liked it. The ride and the sandwich. I can't imagine it would taste very good without the meat.
I had the vegetarian version which had a large egg, some onions and a leaf of some sort.
For the same $5 you could get a great burger and fries at OTB on Mondays....
Even though it wasn't a very good sandwich, it is a cool cause/concept.
The leaf was basil.
i've been told that the meat makes the sandwich, so they're excused...
while we were stopped at the combat kitchen, i was telling a few of you a story about a prank i played on my husband involving the water hose at the kitchen sink and april fools day joke. i got home and saw that my dogs needed water. and guess who got me back? my shirt was def all wet. i thought it was a funny coincidence, fyi.
hey folks. mitch here - we met last night. i was on the lime green / black trek and was gushing about how fun this all was.
that was the first time i really rode in the street and, man, that was the best way to start. i'm hoping to see you guys next friday so we can ride again!
thanks for the good time.
that was awesome! i remember the first time i rode around the city and i was pretty intimidated. i think if i had something fun like this group ride, i would have felt more at ease. glad you had a good time.
and please, tell others you know!
i'm glad we went through the south side. i feel like my night was complete when someone yelled "lance armstrong!"
I couldn't hear what anyone said on the Southside--Sublime was too loud.
Nick - Tall bike w sound system is fantastic and LOVED that you chose sublime to blare through the southside. I was surprised that the drunk people were not more excited about the music choice.
I felt like (of what's on my iPod), Sublime was the most likely to receive a positive reaction. Plus, it's good party music.
