Tour de Cure May 18th

Hey guys, just looking to see if anyone was riding for diabetes this year? And if your not, I know the committee is looking for volunteers (especially marshals and sweep riders). Please contact me (pittcurl@gmail.com) or Shannon (madavis@diabetes.org) for more info. Also check out the site: http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR?fr_id=9357&pg=entry

So how was your experience? I was one of three marshals on 100 mile route. :)

I loved it and would do it again. This was my first time riding a century and I wasn't quite sure what to expect but it was great. The route was a nice mixture of hills and rural farmland. I did better than I thought I would. The weather was beautiful except for a little chill in the morning. The rest stops were great. The road markings could be better. I did get lost towards the end of the ride (I kept going on E Portersville Rd instead of turning right on Stanford, until I reached the other end of Yellow Creek Rd, and in doing so added 2.5 miles and a few hills to the ride). Mental note to myself - learn the route before riding it. Thighs I would do differently next time? I would train more (my only "long" hilly ride was the 35 mile loop from Bellevue to Ambridge and back). I would tackle more hills/meaner hills in preparation for the ride. I would not pack as many snacks as I did this time - the rest stops have adequate food. I would probably pace myself better and not push as hard for the first half of the ride. I would learn the route by heart. Thank you for putting your time in the ride and making it happen. I was the dork in a blue/rainbow colored jersey who mostly rode solo.

Thanks for the feedback rainbow dog... I'll pass it along to the committee. I really pushed for that warm lunch at the rest stop. It's one tough route, that's why I went to the 25 (plus commitment to help new riders). Thanks Mikhail for marshaling. You guys are amazing to help us out!!! *I was the red rider who spoke before the 100 mile ride.

Those tacos were great and kept me going for the remainder of the ride!
