In the last 18 months I've had zero problems on the T.
that's really great to hear
i assume you're trying to avoid washington and fifth
hmmm. dunno, i feel like i'd take ellsworth to neville to fifth back
I ride to the track on Tues via Jail Trail=>Hollow=>Ellsworth (and take the T* home) However, on the way back (mainly due to daylight constraints) I've been taking Butler St. straight back.
Am I missing a route that would take about the same amount of time as Butler St but involve less traffic?
*(Major props to Bike PGH. In the last 18 months I've had zero problems on the T. That's a huge change IME, including being assaulted by a driver in 2006)
Thanks.

negley run up through bloomfield or whatever is actually shorter than butler. takes less time and is actually a mile shorter (based on heading to the 16th st bridge).
negley run to east liberty blvd to negley to penn
I don't know if that would be much faster (due to the hill climb) or less trafic.
Steve, are you saying something like Negely Run to Penn?
Negley Run to Penn Circle to Penn would well, I think. ELB to Negley doesn't gain you much, I think, except three blocks of bike lane.
You could also cut over to Friendship, then take Liberty down to the Strip. Penn through Garfield can be less than pleasant thanks to traffic and the less-than-ideal road surface.
Steve, thanks for the tip. I think it is shorter. Certainly more pleasant both from a traffic standpoint and scenery.
