The neighborhood of Brighton Heights in the Northside is hoping to create a pedestrian connection to Riverview Park. When the Davis Avenue bridge was closed, Brighton Heights neighbors lost their only easy path to the park. However, an old road through the woods is being reclaimed by volunteers as a new pedestrian connection that leads to Riverview Park.
On Friday, May 27th, you can join volunteers to work on the trail. Volunteers will meet at the Jack Stack Playground Shelter in Brighton Heights Park at 9am for coffee and donuts. Work will begin at 9:30 and break for lunch sometime between 12 and 1 (lunch will be supplied).
Parking is available by Jack Stack Pool in Brighton Heights Park, above the ballfields and playground and shelter, just off Benton Avenue across from Little Sisters of the Poor.
Please spread the word. Even if you can just volunteer for an hour, Brighton Heights will appreciate your help! If you have clippers, please bring them along. Also wear gloves if you have them and clothes that can get dirty. To RSVP or for more information call Stacey Roa at 412 417-6257.
