Which incline? What experience has anyone had with either?

Trailers on the incline
Well I bought myself a bike trailer over the winter and I am planning on taking it on its maiden voyage this Saturday. I will probably ride to the waterfront then to the wall to check out the allycat race. My only concern is getting back home on mt Washington. I take the incline up all the time but I'm not sure what they would say about bringing up a trailer with me.
There is nothing in the rules about trailers. They only talk about bikes and strollers if I remember correctly.
The guy that has the M-F evening shift said it would be OK with him but he wasn't sure if the other operators would go for it. So my question is has anyone here ever tried to bring a trailer up the incline?

i like the idea of trying crazy and bigger bikes. then when people try to board with regular bikes, they'll be nicer about it

The mon is the incline I ride on. Most of the time I don't have any problems. There is one operator that was working on the weekends in the summer that would only let you bring one bike on at a time. He was the same guy that would bust my stones when I lived in Mt. lebanon and would bring my bike on the T to commute to work. The only other problems I have had on the incline are people not paying attention and walking into my bike or trying to cut me off as I get into the line to pay. Oh and the time some woman got into the compartment with my girlfriend,I and our two bikes and made sure to tell us that only one bike is allowed on at a time. She was pretty nasty about the whole thing too. Swearing and all.
I really don't think I will have any problems. I'm gonna attempt it on Saturday night when its not very busy. I keep everyone posted on how it went.

I rented a tandem once. It fit on the Mon incline with at least 3/4 inch to spare.

Yea really, she was so pleasant too. I do know technically only one bike is allowed on at a time but most of the operators don't mind. Most of the time i am coming it with my girlfriend too, if we went one at a time and only waited for the right side car it would make a 10 minute trip to at least 20. Then take into consideration all the tourists that use the incline in the summer. There was Saturday afternoons last summer when it would take me about a hour to get to the top. BTW just last week I rode up with 4 other bikes. The operator laughed and said "that's a lot of bikes".

Probably was a cellphone camera, since it wasn't rolling before the wreck. If one of those people had just popped her in the nose, do you think a jury would convict?

Swearing women reports have thoroughly highjacked this thread!
The most amazing this is that the woman in the vid believes that she is totally in the right: "I've had ENOUGH of this!"
I'm guessing she had to wait 10 or 15 seconds to go around a rider maybe two or three times in the last week and now, from her point of view, cyclists got her into an accident.
She was a realor on trying to make a sale? They should post this on Youtube with the company name in the keywords.

Yea just a single wheel one. I do have a two wheel one that my dog rides in and I would really like to try going up with that next. I've asked one of the regular operators and he does not mind as long as my dog is enclosed. The only problem is that it is wider than the door of the incline. I would have to take her out and tip it on its side to get it on the car.

I bought a trailer on Craigslist for $25 and it is obviously designed to carry small children--it's got seats, seat belts and is all bright primary colors. Not having children, though, I mostly take it to Giant Eagle so I can load up on groceries. I wanted to get a stroller/jogger conversion so I can use it as a cart inside the store and pop the third wheel off to become a trailer again--meaning I don't have to lock it up outside.
I have to imagine at least some motorists are a little more cautious seeing a red/blue/yellow trailer (with the safety flag) behind me, concerned for the welfare of a junior cyclist. Though maybe when I let it hit a pothole, they are more inclined to report me to child welfare services...
