used bike tubes

Hey guys, I am wondering if anyone might just happen to have a collection of used bike tubes lying around that they can hook me up with for an art project I am teaching this week. I have a few I gathered from Trek in EL, but could use a few more- maybe about 6 or so in addition to what I have... Thanks!

I think I have 3 or 4 in my garage, and a couple tires too if you want them. I can bring them to my office tomorrow (BkSq) if that's convenient for you.

I'm assuming you don't need them to inflate? At least 2 of them have damaged valves - although you might be able to pump them up and plug them with something.

That'd be great! Thank you! Nope, we're cutting them apart, so no need for them to inflate.

I might have 50 or so in a box with tons of

tires too. In lawrenceville

I remember Dirty Harry's used to recycle them

or specialized took them and gave them to

playground manufacturers.... does this still

exist?

They have a bin of them for 25 cents each @ Pittsburgh Creative Reuse.

Who knew the market price for a ruined tube was $0.25. I guess I'll stop throwing away all those quarters.

Pardon my threadjack, but I was thinking about replacing some rotten leather webbing from an old mid-century modern sofa with used inner tubes. Too stretchy? Anyone ever try this?

I've also also got a pile of un-patchable old tubes and worn-out tires in the basement waiting to be recycled/reused. Suggestions where to take them or who wants them?

By "Freeride" does that mean that they recycle tubes or have tubes?

Seriously, I'll sell you all the punctured used tubes you want at the cut throat rate of 20 cents each. That's a full 20% off from the competition.

Most any bike shop has a pile of them too that they're more than willing to give away.

@Pseuda - would that be webbing under upholstery or is the webbing what you actually sit on?

Besides the strechy factor, I'd be most concerned that the tubes would rip where they are stapled to the frame.

Similar to this, although my frame only has the short-dimension webbing. (not my photo)

is there something else supportive lengthwise or horizontal web only? If you're just trying to recycle tubes, it can't hurt to try, but I don't think it will hold up to the staple holes. At least the cushions are just placed on top anyway, so it's not like you'd have to redo all the upholstery if the tubes fail.

Creative Reuse takes them? Sweet. I've got a handful I was using as bunjees, but since receiving panniers as a gift, they've been sitting there.

Creative Reuse is awesome.

DH has a ton of them. Come and take whatever you want. They get sent off every so often to make backpacks.
