volunteers! leaf-raking Sat 12/12 9am at Sandcastle

Help us clean up the trail a little on a warm Saturday morning, to prepare the trail for Winter & Spring? near Haysglen St, Pittsburgh, PA Saturday 2015/12/12 9am - 11am We'll meet on the GAP trail (Steel Valley Trail) a little east of the Haysglen St crossing (which is under the Glenwood Bridge). On the section of trail below the RR bridge, next to Sandcastle, there's an accumulation of leaves along the trail that need to be raked up. We can bag them, throw the bags over the fence, then empty the bags there. I'll bring bags. If you'd like to volunteer, please bring a rake and meet us on the trail. Some of us are bringing flat shovels to scrape up the dried mud on the trail, too, but that's a smaller job. You should be able to park a car on Baldwin Rd, at Keystone Iron & Metals or nearby, and walk or bike from there. thanks!

Bob Holder (also with Steel Valley Trail Council) and I did our leaf-raking and -shoveling this morning and I'd say it was highly successful. The trail is a lot cleaner near Sandcastle now. There were lots of people biking/jogging/walking by. Their praise was very nice, but sadly none of them offered us any pastries or stopped to help. Maybe next time... HTML in posts is broken on this web site today, so here are links to the pictures.
