When and where. will be happy to help if I can (since I need some for the map bike)
Volunteers needed to help deliver new Pgh bike maps!
We're getting in an enormous shipment of the brand new Pittsburgh bike maps. If anyone has time this week or next week to help distribute them around the city, drop a line!
I can take some out to Trek Robinson and REI Settlers Ridge if you want. When can pick up?
Where do they need to go? I live near Regent Square.
i WILL BE HAPPY TO DELIVER TO SOUTHSIDE ON SATURDAY, WAS GONNA HEAD OUT FOR SOME BIKE TIME THAT DAY ANYWAY
This would make a sweet alleycat.
what cburch said. I think. I'm still fuzzy on what alleycats actually are. but after seeing so many people doing one last friday, I'm convinced it must be fun and relatively easy.
I second Colin's idea
An alleycat would be fun, but I don't have time to organize it. If someone wants to, feel free! The maps should be available for pick-up late afternoon Thursday, during the day on Friday and early next week at the BikePGH office. They can be distributed in all of the neighborhoods to the cafes, stores, museums, etc. Just not the bike shops because we'll be taking care of those. Post your claim to a neighborhood in this thread and come pick up the maps! If no one is in the office when you stop by, there will be containers with maps out back where you can grab some piles to take with you. Thanks so much!
heh... my 'hood doesn't really have very many places like that
I'll have to do some thinking and see what I can come up with. I envision myself traveling up/down 22, parkinglot to parkinglot, asking to leave some and... I honestly don't know what people would say (especially if I did it via bicycle). Might be fun to try it just for the reactions
should I claim 22? Starbucks, Half Priced Books, chain & fast food restaurants, the mall, etc? Or would that be a waste of maps?
How early can one start on Friday?
I'm thinking of taking some to the Carnegie Carnegie Library, Carnegie municipal bldg, Father Ryan Arts center in the Rocks, Dicks, LA Fitness. I may even ask my neighbor lady to take some to GlaxoSmithKline, there seems to be some kind of "bike cell" there. Even the burbiest of burbs probably has similar kinds of places.
I commute from the eastern suburbs. Need any taken towards monroeville or westmoreland county?
I also thought of Point Park - must have an information desk, Sheraton St Sq., Wyndham Gateway ctr. Anybody?
@ejwme We'll have a lot of maps so delivery on 22 would be fine if you'd like to do it.
@ Sloaps You can pick the maps up after 9am on Friday morning. If you need to come before that let us know and we can leave some in the box out back.
Thanks everyone!
Ok, I'll take 22 between the two monroeville exits. It'll be fun
Something at CCAC Boyce wouldn't hurt.
Boyce park office. Is there some "Action Park" out there too?
There's a big and popular skate park as part of Westmoreland Parks... it's the reason we didn't get married at that pavillion, skate wheels != wedding bells. Dont' remember name of the park.
edited to add: I'll do CCAC boyce.
Hey Becca, I was in today. I'll swing by Monday for some maps to take to the South Hills. Just let me know where you'd like them to end up.
I will be glad to see the new maps.
off topic:
Boyce Park skatepark is located next to the wave pool (swimming pool?).

Ah... Boyce Skate Park. The last time I broke my ankle on a BMX was there. Fond memories.
