I don't know anything about the accident, but I saw him today (Saturday, 8/7) in Oakland. He saw us (the 12 Bridges Ride group) and joined in through Panther Hollow. He was happy and talking.

Was Bumper Bike hit by car?
My cabbie friend told me a fellow cabbie told him yesterday that he (2nd cabbie) heard from another cabbie that BB got hit by a car in Shadyside. No other details. Anybody know if this is true? (I hope not).
ps I'm not trying to be funny with the above, it's just provenance.

I saw Bumper Bike's bike outside the Eastside Starbucks (by Whole Foods) today. He's obviously taken some time to upgrade--it's more like "Double Bumper, Quad-Hubcap and Oil Bottle Bike" now.

I saw him on Liberty (my first BB sighting!!) on my way from 40th to Bloomfield Bridges around 12:50p on Saturday. He was actually on the inbound sidewalk, but he seemed to be OK. Pretty sure it was this bike, though.

I don't know anything about him being hit by a car recently, however several months ago he was hit by a car while on Baum Blvd near the Shell station, so maybe that could be what your friend was talking about...?
